One thing I learned with schoolwork that seems to be the same while working is try something out for a while and if you get stumped work on something else. Usually by the time you come back to the thing that stumped you earlier you can figure it out pretty quickly. It is like a process that gets swapped out of memory. In life I think it much more beneficial though.
